Sounds like a how to book, more than a guide book like I was expecting. Guess there are plenty of guides books and sites out there

Yeah, it's a how to book, not a guide book. Lots of photos, many from Hawaii canyons, and many from SE Utah of course, all color w/ explanations for many techniques.

I am not trying to demean Dave's expertise, but how does his book differ from one like this?

This latter book was fairly useless for anyone but a noobie, or for someone looking to get into the sport, so does Dave's book contain better infromation? Can you scan and post some excerpts, with the author's permission, of course?

I agree the latter book was totally useless.... unless you were out of butt wipe. :haha:

I have yet to read Dave's book, but I do have his utah Ice Climbing Book and it's well written and useful. I expect to see the same from his Canyoneering technique's book.

I'll wait to hold judgement until after seeing the book, but I would be very surprised if it was not a valuable tool.

:cool2:

I too agree that the former "Canyoneering" book was pretty useless, I'll sell anyone my copy for cheap.

Dave's book is a technique book and made to be a technique book. I'll see what I can do about some photos. You won't be let down with this one like we all were on the "other" book. I have only flipped through the book and look forward to reading through it in the next few days, but the photos alone show that there is a lot of techniques discussed and explained. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll add a table of contents to the book listing on our store website.

Browsing through the books on Amazon, even Tom's book is using the "Look Inside" feature which invokes the AmazonOnlineReader, whereby the Index, TOC, excerpts, etc., can be examined. Maybe Dave can do the same with his book now that it is officially avaialble?
