I want to find the best place to teach a 4 year old to ski/snowboard.

I have heard alta has a free lift after 3, but that won't work because I board and my wife skis.

We just want to use one beginner lift and if possible just the afternoon. Whats our cheapest option?

alta also has free rope-tows all day, thought it was worth mentioning though i know it doesn't help your problem.

The ski free after three deal at Alta is worth renting skis for. I'd check it out at least once.

Kids ski for free at Brighton.

the sunnyside lift at alta, any day of the year, is free after 3pm.

while this constitutes a very small piece of the mountain, there are a number of good mellow slopes to be skied. and there is more sunlight from now till the end of april when alta closes, so 3:00-4:30pm is a decent amount of free skiing with reasonable light remaining in the day. (just no snowboarding.)

the rope tows are free all day long.

Sundance tow rope is always free... its small and short.
But you can take a board up there.

6 and under are always free on the lifts.

I do not know where you live, but Wolf MT in Ogden valley is cheap. Aprox. 22 bucks week day and 6 and under are free with a payng adult. They also have nght skiing and there are deals all week long: famly night, milatary night ect... Search the web site to get a better idea.

And no I do not work there, I just take my son skiing there sometimes.

Thanks for all the advice ... we live in Midway.

I have decied to leave my board at home, borrow some skis and hit alta up. We will use the tow rops from 1-3 and lift 3-4... by then my son should get a lot accomplished.

Thanks again!

Alta was awesome. We got there about about noon.. Used the two tow ropes (one was flat the other had a decent incline)

Then used sunny side till 4:15... It was perfect for a 4 year old!

I remember learning at Wolf Mtn, back when it was Nordic Valley. I was probably 6. I remember going pee in the trees too.
