I was planning on going to hidden splendor and going down the sqeeze in the next few weeks. Does anybody know what its like out there right now? Or am I trying to go to early in the year? Think there will be snow out there?
Thanks in advance. |

| As of last weekend (March 13), you will have snow and probably bad roads if you try to access from Hidden Splendor. You might not have snow at Hidden Splendor, but you will have snow and mud on the high country roads accessing it. If you plan try the Squeeze this early in the year my suggestion would be to use the Factory Butte access, which is my preferred access all the time. |

Winterish conditions prevail, and will for a while. Expect things wetter and colder than 'normal expectations'.
Are you indeed a 'Rookie'? I hope you are going with people who have a clue.

We were in the area march 22-23 2007 and there was no snow around the air strip. But it still looks pretty cold in the swell. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/slc/current/meso.cenut.php
looking down at the muddy and airstrip. 3-22-2007

There is a lot more snow then 2007.... You would have been standing in 6" of snow at that location last weekend. And on Sunday afternoon that same picture would have looked more like this....

| I can't speak for the Hidden Splendor area, but in the northern Swell, at even higher elevations than Hidden Splendor, the snow is almost completely gone and the roads are dry. |

| Snow is gone for the most part. There are some skiffs here and there on north facing slopes, but roads to Hidden splendor are clear and dry. |
