Nice pics :2thumbs: I need to head back there
Ok, I've got to ask, you meant Arches February 2008 not Arches February 2007 right? If it was a TR Arches NP - February 2007 props for finally getting the TR up to inspire us to head out to Moab again and for remembering where you were exactly a year ago today. |

It was too cold for the little one to camp so we got a room. The Arch Inn or something. :ne_nau:

| I love doing Corona Arch with the family. It's a great little hike with just enough spice to keep the kiddies entertained. |

I did Corona Arch with our son Mitchell in June 2006, when he was 13. Record heat at the time. But it is a great hike for the family.

Corona Arch was a mad house.
We were the third car in the TH and we hiked up to the arch about as fast as our 4yo could go. By the time we were on the way down hordes of people were heading up. When we got to the TH it was 95% full of cars with people still pulling in.
We drove back to arches and it was pretty dead :ne_nau: We saw more people hiking corona arch in the 3 hours were were there then two days at Arches... how does that work out? |

Hey Summit, nice TR and photos. Looks like we were walking around each other all last weekend. We went down on Friday (after an expensive trip to the Patagonia sale). My friend Karl was racing in the RedHot 50k which went from the Gemini Bridges road around and ended on the Poison Spider Trail. We hung around there pretty much all day Saturday for the race but also went back up for the sunset against the LaSals. Got up for sunrise at Arches where it was pretty dead. We checked out the Windows, Turret, Double Arch area, then went out and did the Double O arch trail. By the time we were leaving people were just starting to arrive which was nice. Came back to Arches for the Delicate Arch sunset and then headed out to Dead Horse Point for a night of camping. We had the entire peninsula and campground to ourselves and actually were the only ones there for the sunrise which surprised me.
Two days in Moab hotels at $49/ night and one freezing night in a tent were just about right. I hate to say it but I usually am not a fan of Moab because of the people but February is definitely the time to go. Even with the holiday weekend it was pretty quiet. We hiked about 4-6 miles every day and didn't see too many people (except runners!). This was my first trip to Arches and first trip to all of the other spots on the trip. We really enjoyed it.

That is unusual. I've done Corona about 10 times. I usually expect to see 2 or 3 other groups. You seldom have the trail to you yourself, but it's not usually crowded like the main hikes in Arches. |

I ran that race last year - it's a gorgeous course. I was planning on doing it again this year, but a knee injury last year kept me from ever getting into a good training regime. Next year.
I love the pic you have from the Poison Spider trail - that was definitely the highlight of the race for me last year. When I was running along the slick rock I could see a big white tent up near the top of the slick rock, I thought it was an aid station, but as I reach the top of a little hill I realized I was looking at Mt. Tuk! Then I started descending, and I saw the view you have there, and I was nearly overwhelmed by how beautiful it was. |

It was opposite weekend.... When we pulled out of Arches on saturday afternoon there was one single car in the visitor center parking lot. |
