Did a little hiking Wed. found some nice caves most have pictographs in them. One did not and I believe it is called Mother of Earth cave. There were 100's of candles inside, not sure if they were used for nightime photography or some cult rituals also found a small chamber inside MOE cave that had a shelf the size of a bed complete with 3 pillows. :naughty:
lots of video but only these few stills in no particular order. |

The small chamber inside MOE cave is incredible, one can't help but feel compelled to #^^*$%#^(% inside. Unfortunately, there were no women in our expedition. :haha: I did not post pics of the small chamber.
In the last picture you can see some pictographs to the right of Steve, one is large, I'm guessing some type of shaman type figure. The park service says they may be up 7000 yrs old |

Nice, Kurt, looks like you found everything. MOE has never had anything in it when I was there. We did meet a local that told us a very large rattler lived in there for a long time. But candles and pillows, hmmm.

Wow! Great job! Pillows? hehe
The altar cave is located between the gate and the first major cave. However, it is facing to the "rear" or south instead of facing the meadow.
Requires a rope or tough stemming to get up there. Nice pictures!
That whole area is deserving of much exploration. Thanks for the great
TR! cheers! |
