This past weekend was my 50th Birthday
I think I have been in serious denial so after all the comments in another thread about birthdays I feel I am now ready to shout it out to the world.
I AM 50.
I got a small bonus from work. I went out and bought some new rappelling gear, A new harness carabenier and figure eight. I feel much better now. Turning 50 is hard. Some times I feel like I am getting too old for this kind of thing. Sometimes I wonder how many more years will I be able to climb mountains and jump off cliffs and canyons. Well who Knows? I just know I love it and plan to keep hiking, canoeing, and rappelling as long as I can.
See you on the Trail

Happy birthday, Scoutmaster!

I'm just a few years behind you, creeping up on 50 as well... I don't know how long this rattly collection of parts will keep doing the things I want it to (or a close approximation), but like you, I'll just keep going 'til I can't! :five:

I also have a clear view of my 50th and it's not a pretty sight.

Happy Birthday. Also speeding towards 50. Looking forward to it. Looking foward to hiking all the out of shape younger guys into the dirt and having all the younger in-shape guys carry the rope. :2thumbs:

Happy Birthday. Are you sure you are only 50? Well, I'll take your word for it. I can tell you the next 10 years will fly by, taking maybe 20 minutes in teenager time.

I definitely plan to stay active. In fact I bought a very nice new harness for my birthday present. I am looking forward to some more canyons and still plan to bag quite a few peaks. Hanging around you folks just makes me feel younger.

Ya People definitely live this long. But the real question is can we still bag 10 thousand feet peaks, do 100 foot rappels into ice cold water and make it to work the next day?

I can't even eat a dodgey breakfast burrito and make it into work the next morning.
