I was inspired by this thread:
http://uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5983

See this thread for the current progress. I've got most of the Southern Utah trails marked:
http://uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6048

I'd like to gather Google Earth placemarks for bike trail heads. I've got a ton on my home computer, so I'll have to post them here later.

I'd like to gather them all to a folder, and add it as an attachment. It would bring up Google Earth, and you'd see a placemarker for every trailhead we've marked.

This isn't just for Utah trails either, but of course we'd like to get all of the Utah trails we could.

As they're gathered, I'll put the updated post in the MEMBERS ONLY section. All Ye who wish to view must sign up. :cool2:

For starters, here's the Bear Claw Poppy TH in St George. I would like to place a link to the Trip Report also, so we can see any more details about the trail.

Thanks for your help.

You know, probably even a link to MS Live Maps or something would work. Just some kind of database with all of the trails. Then we could cross reference in both programs.

Here's something I've been debating....

Should I label the Trail Head AND the top of the trail? Would that be too crowded? I would like to show where the trail goes, but then again, they can just click on the link to the trip report for more details.

I guess I'll just stick with labeling the TH's, just as a tool to see a bird's eye view of trails in the area.

OK, question answered. :lol8:

I think it'd be nice to see the top of the trails - but hey - that's just me :ne_nau:

Also messing around with some custom Place Markers, instead of just the thumb tack.

At first, I just thought of a bicycle wheel, then a crank gear, a helmet, and then a whole bicycle.

What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the bike. It's a RM Slayer by the way.

There are two options for this. I could include the link to the map, right on the marker. I could also include Bruce's GPS tracker, outlining the trail he rode, right on the terrain.

Keep those ideas coming, we may just use them all. :cool2:

Below is an example of that tracker. It's the light blue line looping below the highway. Of course, you can zoom, tilt, and follow this to see your trail.
Click this link to see it for yourself.

This is available only on a few trails, so we'll need your help in creating these.

And for the lurkers among us, here's an image of what's done so far.

I think I've got a solution that will satisfy most people. I've begun to add the trail map to the pop up balloon.

Check out the Members Only section to see the current progress. So far I've added them to the Logan, Ogden, and Park City area trails.
